Black Bay Chrono S&G: steel and gold version of the Tudor chronograph

Black Bay Chrono S&G

Tudor presented its first chronograph, the Oysterdate Chronograph, in 1970, and over the course of the last years the Company has never stopped producing watches linked to the world of car racing.
For Baselworld 2019 Tudor presented the Bay Chrono S&G “steel and gold”, an extremely smart and sporting watch that adds the chronograph function to the Black Bay family’s vocation as an underwater watch.
Though staying true with the Black Bay look, this new model develops a new style: the famous “Snowflake” hands, a distinctive feature of the Brand since 1969, have been upgraded with a gold version that provides an excellent contrast with the domed black dial, ensuring excellent readability. The counters are concave and champagne coloured. The calendar is located at 6 pm, as is traditional with Tudor chronographs. The 41 mm steel case is a distinctive feature of the Black Bay, and it sports yellow gold screw-down pushers reminiscent of the first generation of Tudor chronographs. The yellow gold bezel with its matt black anodised aluminium disk and tachymetric scale rounds off this brand new chronograph.

Manufacture MT5813 chronograph calibre

The Black Bay Chrono S&G model is equipped with a chronograph calibre MT5813, certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute; it has a 70 hour power reserve and the balance wheel is fitted with a silicon hairspring.
This movement, with column wheel and vertical clutch is both sturdy and reliable, as guaranteed by the many strict tests to which the Brands’ products are subjected, in line with TUDOR’s philosophy of offering high end watches.

Manufacture MT5813

Developed starting from the calibre with chronograph Manufacture Breitling 01, with a high precision regulator developed by Tudor and specific finishes, this movement is the result of a long-standing collaboration between the two Brands, that have decided to share their respective competence in the design and production of certain mechanical movements that will now be used in the watches of both brands.
The Black Bay Chrono sports a fabric wrist strap, one of the Brand’s distinctive features, or a steel and yellow gold bracelet, reminiscent of the folding riveted versions produced in the Fifties and Sixties, which became well-known for the visible rivets connecting the bracelet links and their characteristic tapered shape. And in order to pay a tribute to the world of motor racing in the Seventies, the Black Bay Chrono can also come with an aged brown leather wrist strap with light tan stitching and a folding clasp.
The watches in this collection are a perfect combination of Tudor’s sixty years of experience and the contemporary art of watchmaking.
