Panerai technical development, during Word War II, brought to many improvements on the Radiomir watch, to make it more suitable to the military hard use:

• A sandwich dial made it more readable and luminescent;
• horns joint to the case, more resistant to hits;
• bridge on top of the crown, to increase water resistancy;
• introduction of a new luminescent substance, the Luminor, to substitute the radio.

This is how the Radiomir became the Luminor.
