Jaeger-LeCoultre, the watchmaking "Grande Maison". Literally, "the "big house"
Jaeger-LeCoultre is known, among the watchmakers, as the “Grande Maison“, that means the big house.
Antoine LeCoultre started the activity of this manufacture inside his own house, one of the biggest in the Vallée des Joux, a valley on the Swiss Jura mountains. His son Jaques David LeCoultre showed a strong managerial acumen regrouping, in the wide top floor of the building, many independent watchmakers of that area.
This was the first test of industrial production on watchmaking industry.
