F. P. Journe: why did we choose him?
Geneva, 1835. Abraham-Louis Breguet introduced to his son probably his most fascinating, complicated and hard to implement invention: the “pendule sympathique. A precision pendulum clock that could mechanically set the correct time on a pocket watch, when placed into a dedicated seat on the clock.
Basel, 1990. Francois-Paul Journe, together with Denis Flageollet, two almost thirty years old independent watchmakers, astonished us at Baselword fair with their masterpiece: a “pendule sympathique”, clearly inspired by the Breguet’s one. The F.P. Journe’s clock could both synchronize and wind the pocket watch.
Rome, 2010. Hausmann & Co. boutiques chose F.P.Journe as the independent watchmaking brand to be introduced among the top watch brands proposed to its discerning customers. Our choice was based on the high regard toward the technical features of Journe’s watches: important and not commercial complications, such as the two balance wheels of the Chronomètre à Résonance, the constant force escapement, the chronograph with the hundredth of a second indication.
