As an alternative to the common black and the confortable browns, blue is gaining positions inside the pages of all brands’ catalogues. This Baselword 2015 showed the use of blue also for classic and simple watches, changing the trend that associated it mainly with limited editions and platinum versions of the watches.
First introduced in a matt black version, the Tudor Pelagos now comes in a matt blue model that echoes the traditional colours of 1960s Tudor diver’s watches and in particular, a model chosen by the French Navy and worn in great numbers by its divers.
Patek Philippe enriches the three-hands collection in white gold with two new blue dials: one for the Calatrava 6000G, and the other for the Gondolo 5124G.
And gifted its wide feminine clientele with a Nautilus stainless steel pure version, with no diamonds around the blue waves dial, which recalls the dark black-blue dial of the Nautilus 5711/1A for men.
It is always for women the last blue watch we introduce you from Baselworld 2015: it is the Breguet Reine de Naples ref. 9807 in steel. Case cambered ovoid with a delicately fluted case band, as in the Breguet style, contains a self-winding movement that beats below a dial in grained natural white mother-of-pearl, with an off-centre chapter ring at 6 o’clock with Roman numerals in white natural mother-of-pearl marquetry.
